Best Paving Contractor Software (2026): 7 Compared
The best software for paving and asphalt contractors depends on the work you do. For small and mid-size asphalt and concrete contractors who want estimating, crew scheduling, time tracking, job costing and invoicing in one system, Projul is a strong all-in-one choice. OneCrew is the main platform built only for paving, and HCSS is the standard for heavy civil and DOT work.
We make Projul, so it’s first on the list. We’ve tried to be straight about where each of the other tools is the better fit.
What Do Paving Contractors Need From Software?
Your material is hot, your schedule depends on the sky, and one bad tonnage number can wipe out a parking lot’s margin. Here’s what matters:
- Square-yard and tonnage estimating. You measure in square yards, figure depth, convert to tons, and add base stone, tack coat, milling, striping and waste.
- A fast way to update material prices. Asphalt prices move with oil and plant pricing. When your plant sends a new price sheet, you want to change it once and have every estimate pick it up.
- Crew and equipment scheduling around weather. Rain or a cold snap moves the whole day: crews, pavers, rollers, trucks and the plant order. Shifting it should take minutes.
- Job costing that splits materials, trucking and labor. Tons laid versus tons bid, truck hours, equipment time and crew hours, compared against the estimate while the job is still running.
- A field app crews will actually use. Native mobile apps, GPS clock-in, photos and daily logs that still work when a rural site has one bar of signal.

What Are the Best Software Options for Paving Contractors?
1. Projul: Best All-in-One for Small and Mid-Size Paving Contractors
Projul covers the whole business in one platform: lead tracking and CRM, estimates with e-signatures, scheduling, GPS time tracking, job costing, invoicing and QuickBooks sync.
Why paving contractors choose it:
- Assemblies let you build a paving calculation once. Enter square yards and depth, and the assembly works out tons, base, tack and labor with your waste factor. When the plant raises its price, update the item once and every assembly using it reflects the new cost.
- Drag-and-drop scheduling shows crews and equipment on one board. When rain kills Tuesday, slide the job and the tasks behind it, and crews get the update on their phones.
- Job costing breaks budgets into labor, materials, subcontractors and custom categories like trucking. Crew hours from the time clock turn into labor dollars automatically.
- Native iOS and Android apps with offline time tracking, plus Daily Logs on the Pro plan that fill in weather from the job site address and save entries offline until signal comes back.
- Flat-rate pricing with no per-user fees, so adding a foreman, an estimator or seasonal laborers doesn’t raise your bill until you move to a plan with a higher user limit.
- On the Pro plan, Projul AI Connect lets ChatGPT or Claude work in your account, like pushing a week of jobs back after a storm or drafting an estimate from your site-visit notes. Drafts stay drafts until your team sends them.
Where another tool may fit better: Projul doesn’t run asphalt plant scheduling or aerial site measurement. Heavy civil contractors bidding DOT unit-price work with large owned fleets will get more from HCSS.
Pricing: published at projul.com/pricing. Starter is $2,388 per year (or $249 a month) for up to 3 users. Core is $4,788 per year for up to 10 users, Core+ is $7,188 per year for up to 20, and Pro is $14,388 per year with unlimited users. Monthly or annual billing. You can buy online or book a demo, and there’s a free trial after the demo.
2. OneCrew: Best Paving-Only Platform
OneCrew is a cloud platform built specifically for paving contractors. Its own materials describe mapping and estimating from takeoff to signature, drag-and-drop scheduling and dispatch built for paving, job costing, CRM, a customer portal, and invoicing and payments (OneCrew Series A announcement, August 2025).
Watch for: it’s built for paving only, so mixed-trade contractors may find it narrow. OneCrew says its pricing is seat-based and quoted during a demo (OneCrew, September 2026), so check their pricing page and price it for every seat you need.
3. HCSS: Best for Heavy Civil and DOT Paving
HCSS makes HeavyBid for estimating and HeavyJob for job costing, time tracking and field production. HCSS describes its fit as heavy civil and infrastructure contractors who self-perform with their own crews and equipment fleets (HCSS, September 2026). HCSS is part of Nemetschek Group and has announced it is joining Bluebeam within Nemetschek’s Build & Construct division.
Why it’s worth a look: HeavyBid is an industry standard for detailed unit-price bids, and HeavyJob tracks daily production against budget across big crews.
Watch for: custom pricing, separate products for estimating and field tracking, and a steeper learning curve. It’s more than most residential and light commercial paving companies need.
4. Bitumio: Best for Small Asphalt Maintenance Crews
Bitumio is estimating software for asphalt paving contractors, with scheduling, customer management, job costing, map measurements and QuickBooks integration. Capterra lists it for asphalt paving, maintenance, concrete and excavation contractors (Capterra, November 2026).
Watch for: it has very few public reviews (one on Capterra as of November 2026), so ask for references. Capterra lists a starting price of $149 per user per month. For a 3-person office that’s about $5,364 a year, compared with $2,388 a year on Projul Starter.
5. Go iPave: Best for Aerial Site Measurement
Go iPave, now from Aspire Software, is a property measurement tool for paving contractors. You enter an address, trace surfaces on high-resolution aerial imagery, export measurements to Excel and share color-coded site plans with crews (Aspire, November 2026).
Watch for: it’s a measurement tool, not a business system. There’s no scheduling, time tracking or job costing, so most contractors pair it with an estimating or all-in-one platform. Pricing is a subscription plus search credits, with a 14-day free trial. Check their pricing page.
6. Jobber: Best for Sealcoating and Small Residential Routes
Jobber is field service software for quoting, scheduling, invoicing and client communication. Small sealcoating, crack-fill and driveway crews running lots of short, repeat jobs often like how simple it is, and the mobile app is solid.
Watch for: Jobber is built for service calls, not projects. There’s no tonnage-based estimating built for paving, and job costing is lighter than construction platforms. See Projul vs Jobber and check Jobber’s pricing page.
7. Contractor Foreman: Best Low-Cost Feature Breadth
Contractor Foreman packs estimating, scheduling, time tracking, daily logs and job costing into low-cost plans.
Watch for: reviewers mention a busy interface, and there’s nothing paving-specific, so you’ll build your own tonnage workarounds. Check their pricing page.

How Should You Handle Job Costing for Materials, Trucking and Labor?
Most paving companies know what they paid the plant. Fewer know their true cost per ton once trucking, equipment and rain days are added in. Set up your budget categories to match how money actually leaves the business:
- Materials: tons of mix by type, base stone, tack, sealer, crack filler and striping paint, entered from plant tickets or purchase orders.
- Trucking: owned truck hours or hauler invoices, tracked separately so you can see which jobs are trucking-heavy.
- Equipment: paver, roller and mill time, including rentals.
- Labor: crew hours from GPS clock-in, at each person’s real rate, not one blended average.
Then compare estimate to actual on every job. If you bid 180 tons and the tickets show 205, that’s a takeoff or yield problem you want to catch on this job, not the next ten. Our paving management guide covers how this ties into coordinating subgrade, paving and striping on commercial lots.
How Reliable Are Paving Software Mobile Apps?
Paving crews work parking lots, rural roads and new subdivisions where signal drops out. Before you buy, test the app where your crews work:
- Native app or browser shortcut? Native iOS and Android apps handle GPS, the camera and offline storage better than web apps saved to a home screen.
- Offline clock-ins. Time entries should save on the phone and sync when signal returns, without getting lost.
- Simple screens. If a foreman can’t clock the crew in within a few taps in sun glare, they won’t use it.
- Instant schedule updates. When you move a job, crews should get a push notification, not a group text.
Which Paving Software Should You Pick?
- Small to mid-size asphalt and concrete contractors who want everything from lead to final invoice connected, without per-user fees as crews grow: start with Projul.
- Paving-only companies that want every screen built around paving: look at OneCrew.
- Heavy civil and DOT contractors with large owned fleets: HCSS.
- Small sealcoating and maintenance crews running lots of short jobs: Jobber or Bitumio.
- Anyone measuring lots from the office: add Go iPave or a similar aerial tool to whatever you choose.
Whatever you pick, test it with a real recent job: build the estimate in tons, schedule it, push it two days for rain, and check the margin. If that’s painful in the demo, it’ll be painful all season.
